The Great Salt Lake Salt Drink is another creation that took on a life of its own. The Save the Great Salt Lake foundation asked local bars to concoct drinks that brought attention to the serious problem of the Great Salt Lake drying up, and as a guest bartender at a neighborhood bar, I decided to make up my own drink. For reasons that I barely understand, the vodka/water/salt drink went from being a joke to a drink that generated a lot of attention. I took the drink and turned it into a conceptual art project; given time, the water evaporates and leaves a crust of salt that is reminiscent of the Salt Flats. The drink is ridiculous but also achieved the main goal—getting people talking.
